Since I've been blogging only about our house lately (which probably bores you to death!), I think I'll stay away from that subject today...
The wind is horrid right now and we're supposed to get gusts up to 50 mph today! That will make for treacherous driving on our road, but the GOOD news is that my husband offered to pick me up from work this afternoon, leave my car here, and tomorrow morning take me back to work. By tomorrow afternoon the weather should be better and this big wimp can drive home. I'm very paranoid about driving on bad roads; I've been hit from behind a few times and I guess I never really got over it. To top it off, I drive an Escort, which is a small, lightweight car, and not very good on slippery pavement. Last week I was going 25 mph down our road (which was covered with ice and snow) and I had all I could do to keep my car on the road. What amazes me are the drivers who go 50+ mph down the same road and don't go in the ditch! Whatever; I'm a big wimp when it comes to winter driving and I don't see that changing in the near future.
Oh yeah, I was going to share this with you two weeks ago when it happened and I forgot... One day after work we had our staff Christmas party and instead of just the five of us that work in the office regularly, my new boss decided to invite everyone who gets paid from St. John's to the party, and even invited the spouses. I thought that was very considerate of her. SO, we had a potluck. I brought baked beans (my specialty). Ok, to get to the point; after the dinner was over, a few of the older women went right into the kitchen to put the leftovers in containers. Fine. I left my baked beans at work because we had planned to eat some of the ham and other leftovers for lunch the next day. When lunchtime rolled around, I went down to the kitchen to get the ham and whatever side dishes had been left so we could have lunch. I scooped out some beans onto my plate, heated them up, and left the container on the table right in front of where I was planning to sit. We were enjoying a really good lunch, until all of the sudden, I was reading the container that my beans were in, and I read, "How to remove stains..." I turned the container around to see the front of it and you won't believe what I saw: It said "OXI-CLEAN" on it!!! They put my beans in an Oxi-clean container!! I threw a fit! I didn't finish my beans, I threw the rest of them out, and I gave a little piece of my mind to the co-worker that played a part in it. I told her that would be like using a windshield washer fluid container to put lemonade in. She said, "Well, someone dropped off that container to put leftover food in from funerals." I told her I didn't care WHO dropped it off, I'd have immediately deposited it into the trash the second that person walked out the door. (This same co-worker washes out ziploc baggies so she can re-use them. Now if you do this, please don't take offense; but it's not something I would do and she's worked with me long enough to know how I feel about some food issues.) Some people...
SO, aren't you glad you stopped by? =) Have a terrific Tuesday, and stay warm!!

I refused to drive to work this morning; pure ice on our road! The husband brought me to work and my daughter to school. Yesterday I did drive and I wouldn't go past 25 mph down our road. Everything would have been ok today had it not been for the wind blowing snow over the roads all day yesterday... on top of wet roads; not a pretty picture!
If you like taking pictures and you like others to see what you've taken, please consider hopping on over to Favorite Five Photos when you get a chance. Every 15th of the month, you're asked to post 5 of your favorite photos you've taken in the past month. I plan to put a permanent link on one of my sidebars soon so you'll be able to find it easier. Oh yeah, if you don't have 5 photos you want to post, or if you have MORE than 5 photos, go ahead; post them! No rules; just fun! You can find my photos here.
I'll be disassembling my computer, etc. soon so I can get my desk painted. If you think you've not seen much of me lately, you'll be seeing even less. I expect it'll take me about a week to get that thing primed and painted and dry before I'm able to set anything on it. (Will you miss me?) =)
My daughter will be moving into her new bedroom this weekend. One of her friends wants to come over and help, and of course I'll be involved as well. My computer room is done; I'm just not ready to move my stuff in yet. The living/dining area is painted, window framed, outlet/light switch covers on, and we're ready to start pricing carpet! We've got the flooring we're putting down on the front part of that area, but we'll do that last I think. The carpet needs to go in first. Then it's on to the OLD part of the house. I can't wait to get my washer and dryer hooked back up. I'd like to stay out of the laundromat!
Well, I've used up enough of my work time; of course I DID take a whole day off to compensate for the few hours I left early one day last week and for the 1/2 hour that I came in late every day this week (and it doesn't really add up to a whole day) so I don't feel like I'm taking advantage...
Take care; be safe, and think positive!! =)

Monday morning... and it FEELS like it! We had a busy weekend working on the house and shopping around for the best deals on things. Hence, my absence from here and your blogs.
Don't forget about the new photo meme my mom is starting this month: Favorite 5 Photos. Each month, on or around (or before or after) the 15th, you are asked to post your 5 favorite photos you took that month. It'll be fun! Join in! =)
Also, since it's Monday, I may as well make it easy for you to play my weekly meme, Monday Madness. Thanks!
Meanwhile, I have lots to do here at work. I have to finish my contribution statements for the end of the calendar year, get my W-2's out, etc. Have a good one!

I hope everyone's year is going well. Mine's been very busy; painting, laying carpet, painting, vacuuming drywall dust off walls and ceilings, painting, visiting all the local home improvement stores pricing things, etc. Things are moving, a bit slowly but that's because the husband and I are doing it all. It seems every spare moment we're in the new part of the house trying to get things done so we can start living in there! =)
I haven't visited blogs, family OR friends, very regularly in the past couple of weeks. I appreciate you still coming by and leaving comments here. I'll get back to my regular visting patterns soon, I hope.
The Christmas break went by fast. I'm back to work now and it's going to be very busy around here trying to get year-end stuff done, etc. SO, I best get going!!
Oops! I have to change my blinkie calendar when I get home.
Also, if you're interested in participating in a new photo meme, PLEASE visit my mom's brand NEW (starting this month) Favorite 5 Photos - on the Fifteenth. It's going to be a lot of fun, and this would be a great opportunity to start a new year on the right note; challenge yourself to take at least 5 fantastic photos each month and share them with us! =)
