Memorial Day weekend is coming to an end. 4 days; hmmmmmmm, what did I do? Friday we took a drive to Midland to visit the Dow Gardens and Whiting Forest. Saturday my daughter and I spent the day scrapbooking with 2 of my sisters and it was fun. We always enjoy not only the scrapbooking we get done but the visiting with family. Yesterday we went to church and guess who I saw?? My former boss came in to celebrate Mass with us! I didn't even know she was in town again. It was good seeing her and we had a nice talk about what's going on at the church I work for. After talking to her, I feel a bit better about the future of my job and the church but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed and trying to keep in mind that God works in mysterious ways... After church my daughter and I went to rent a couple of videos, came home and lit up the grill for hamburgers and hot dogs. The stepkids and families came over and we sat outside for most of the day (minus the few rain showers we had). A good day overall. Today we got our scrapbooks out again and I decided to start a new album. I spent a good portion of the day sorting through photos just to be sure I wouldn't forget anything in my chronological albums. We watched Aviator and I fell asleep through some of it but overall it was a decent movie; a bit slow though...
Now I think I'll do last week's Monday Madness:
The following all begin with 'In your lifetime, have you....'
1. ...ridden on a rollercoaster? NO! Too scared!
2. ...performed (in any area of the arts) onstage? Well aside from high school band concerts, no. BUT we did perform in the pit orchestra at our local playhouse (or whatever it is you call it) when we were in high school.
3. ...planted a garden? Yes, and I will again!
4. ...ever had to reformat your hard drive due to a virus/spyware? Just a few weeks ago and I hope I never have to do it again!
5. ...written a book? A poem? A song? I have written some poems but I don't even know where I saved them now.
6. ...sang karaoke? Just at our church picnic and only with a group of people.
7. ...been interviewed by a local tv station/newspaper? No.
8. ...witnessed a tornado/earthquake/hurricane first-hand? No, thank God.
9. ...participated in a photo scavenger hunt? Yes, several. And I still plan to finish up last month's challenge.
10. ...traveled to another country? Canada a few times.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention that my daughter decided recently that she would like to try her hand at sewing. SO, we went out and bought a pattern for a tote bag and some material (enough to make a couple different ones) and all the miscellaneous things we needed. So far we've spent three partial evenings sewing and we're almost finished with the first tote bag. It was a bit of a challenge seeing how the last time I sewed was about 13 years ago and that was with help from a friend of mine. This tote bag has a lining and a pocket inside and my daughter wanted it to be a zippered pocket so she found a website that explains in detail (pictures and all!) how to add a zippered pocket to a lined handbag. It came out pretty decent! We're having fun and I hope she keeps her interest in sewing for a while.
Ok, that's all I have to say. Tomorrow it's back to work for me. Have a blessed week, all!! =)

"Happiness and sadness are emotions that are within our power of choice. The decision is made inside the heart."
Memorial Day Weekend Underway...
The first day of my 4-day weekend and we decided to get up early and take a trip to the Dow Gardens. It was really nice weather to take a walk and there were a lot of flowers bloomed already. We decided to get the pass for the year because if you go at least twice, it's paid for. PLUS, we went to the Whiting Forest (which is just a walk through the woods at this point), free admission with your Dow Gardens pass. We did see a fox out there in the woods though; just a small one but a fox nonetheless. I do have pictures and I'll try to get them posted before the weekend's over; promise! I still plan to post my '26 Things' pics just as soon as I get them organized. (Yeah, I know; it's a bit late but better late than never, eh?)
Yesterday was an absolute horrible day. I was able to attend the Bookkeeper's workshop all day since I didn't have to spend the day at the diocese the day before (another long story....) Every year they invite a speaker to come spend the morning talking to us about some important subject and usually the speaker is really motivating and upbeat. This one was just your average run-of-the-mill speaker and rambled on and on all morning long. BORING!! My mind wandered into other important things and by lunchtime I just got in my car and took a little drive. I had to get out of there. I came back for the afternoon portion (which is the really important stuff anyway) and only ended up staying until 2:45. It was supposed to be over at 3:30. I won't go into any details about the other stuff going on right now but some of it is 'house project-related' and some is work-related. Very stressful...
But today is a new day and I decided to enjoy this long weekend and not think about something I have no control over at this point. (I do keep in mind that some things we just have to put in God's hands and I'm trying my hardest to remember that right now.) =)
Tomorrow my daughter and I will be spending the day at my sister's house scrapbooking, and we're both looking forward to it, as always. SO, there you have it. How are you spending your weekend?
Just wanted to share a quote with you, then I'm signing off for the evening. Have a safe and enjoyable weekend!!

Can someone please tell me why they make it so hard for anyone to make home improvements??? I am getting impatient; waiting, waiting, waiting.... Hopefully, Friday we'll be on our way to sign the closing papers and we can get started. (Keep your fingers crossed will you?) =)
So it's Memorial Day weekend coming up and I have no plans. That's ok though; I think maybe Saturday my daughter and I will spend the day at my sister's house scrapbooking. It's supposed to rain most of the weekend and if we're working on our photo albums we won't even mind! Any plans yourself??
Tomorrow I'll be at a bookkeeper's workshop all day. Thank goodness our transition day was cancelled today; now I feel comfortable having to be out of the office tomorrow. I was planning on only attending the afternoon portion, but now I can go to the whole thing.
Ok, that's about all that's going on around here. Take care and keep smiling!! =)

What a week! Things are very busy; at work and at home. I think my computer problems have all been taken care of but I still need to reinstall some programs; I just haven't had the time to spend on my computer the way I'd like. I'm planning to do some blog-hopping later today/tomorrow, so look for my visit! =)
I've been sending emails out through notifylist.com regarding monday madness, my weekly meme, but I've not received any emails from them in the past couple weeks. Not sure what's going on there, but just know if you don't get an email from me, the questions are usually up by 9:00 p.m. Sunday est. Ok?? =)
We are SO close to starting our house project that we've been working diligently on since mid-March; now they're telling us we're in a flood zone and we have to have flood insurance. Why didn't we know this beforehand?? It's such a process. There seems to be delay after delay.... I had no idea how lengthy (and stressful) this could be. And we haven't even started the actual project yet! When I see that first board go up, I will be a happy person!
Since it's our anniversary today, and the first one we've really acknowledged in several years (don't ask...), and it's a beautiful day, we want to do something 'outdoorsey.' Maybe we'll go to the Dow Gardens and walk around; we'll see.
I'm off to get ready; look for some June blinkie calendars soon; another plan of mine in the next couple days... Until then, take care of yourself and have a wonderful weekend!! =)

Woe is me...
Ok, I promise not to throw my problems your way after this, but I just have to vent. My computer at work is totally messed up. I JUST got internet service last week and now my computer is all infected with viruses. Should I slap myself??? (Don't answer that.) =)
Since I don't have a recovery disk for my work computer, I am not comfortable wiping the hard drive clean (nor would I even know where to begin), so one of the tech guys we know is picking it up tonight and hopefully dropping it off tomorrow and it'll be just like new. I was a bit rude to my Dad on the phone earlier today, but I hope he knows it was not personal and I do apologize. I've just had it up to here with this crap and I don't know enough on my own to troubleshoot these problems all by myself. So please Dad, if you get this message (through Mom) accept my apology. I was not angry at you; just at the whole situation.
My former boss is stopping in tomorrow morning to say Hi before she goes on to Canada for a retreat. I think that'll be the last I see of her for awhile. Things are going well at work so far and I guess we all have to accept change at is comes, right?
Since I've been unable to send notifications regarding Monday Madness questions, I'll invite anyone who comes here to go on over and play this week. It's short and easy so not much thinking required. (Sometimes I like it that way, don't you?) Thanks for playing. I was thinking of giving up that meme but now I think I'll keep it going; it's pretty interesting and I have visited some pretty cool blogs from there.
Ok, I'm done. Have yourself a great evening and make sure you have a firewall, anti-virus and anti-spyware programs running at all times!!!! =)

I think I'm back. Thanks to everyone who came by and left words of encouragement and kindness. You are all greatly appreciated! I've just a couple words of advice to share:
~back up all your data on a regular basis
~be sure to have the latest anti-spyware and anti-virus software running
~run regular spyware and virus checks on your computer
Now, to let you know what's been going on around here... You all know that I had some very serious problems with my computer about a week and a half ago. After re-formatting twice and a lot of frustration and careful planning, I think I'm confident the same problem won't be attacking me again in the near future. I want to thank my Dad for helping me through all this. He was even willing to have me drop off my computer to him so he could fix it for me. Thanks, Dad! As you may know, patience is not a quality I possess, but I had to kick in with all the patience I could muster to get things straightened out with my computer. I spent nearly 4 days (minus work and other normal life-happenings) on that project and I still need to re-install certain key programs I cannot live without, but I'm happy that I didn't have to do anything REAL drastic and I'll get things back slowly but surely.
Also, last Friday we got a phone call from the nursing home my mother-in-law was in; the family was to come in because they felt she didn't have much longer to live. We made ourselves busy around the house, in between visits to the nursing home, and on Sunday morning around 3:00, we got the phone call. I worked Monday, Tuesday, and half of Wednesday, rearranged my house-cleaning schedule, and spent the remainder of Wednesday at the funeral home with my husband and the rest of the family. The funeral was Thursday. My mother-in-law had a difficult time after her husband died almost three years ago, and spent the better part of that time in a nursing home. It's a very sad place to be I think, but I guess sometimes the family feels it's the best place for their loved one. (I hope I never have to live in one myself...) So yesterday I spent most of the day cleaning houses that I hadn't had the time to clean earlier in the week and by last night I was exhausted. I didn't even turn my computer on most of the week. But even I have my priorities.
So thanks again to everyone for your support and encouragement. I'm back (and I hope to stay) and now I have to work on my 26 Things project so with any luck at all, I can get my photos up before the end of the month! My mom has completed the challenge and you may find her pictures here. Great job, Mom!
Just one more thing... found this at Wanda's...
What's In Your Name?
Here's what's in my name...
You are a visionary with courage and enthusiasm if a little hasty at times. Your ambitious nature can be satisfied when you apply wisdom, patience and self-discipline to your vitality and zest. You have wonderful way with words and may be drawn to the communications arena where there is the potential for great success. Your generous and warm nature attracts many friends and loved ones.
Take care everyone, and have a wonderful weekend! =)

I don't expect I'll be blogging for awhile. I have no computer; thanks to someone who decided they have nothing better to do but mess with an innocent person. I may delete this blog and my other sites and start from scratch after my dear ol' dad fixes my computer for me. I don't know what else to do. So if you don't see me on for awhile, this is why. (Maybe I shouldn't even be blogging this right now.) What is this world coming to???? Some people have to abuse every right ever given to them and if there was a way to turn those people in, I would. The internet is supposed to be a privelege, but some choose to use it as a tool to invade others. I'll see ya all at a later date. I've saved everything I've ever created, but it's going to take a very long time to get everything back up and running. Needless to say, I'm very discouraged right now. Take care......

One of my most favorite quotes of all time:
If you're not seeing some (or all) of the graphics on my site, rest assured, they will return. (They BETTER return!!) Must be there's problems over at my server.
Hey, I wondered why we only had 12 people join in on the Monday Madness this week. I know the weather's getting nicer and people are spending less time on the computer and more time outside, so I understand. Just thought I'd maybe guilt ya into playing!! =)
So I have internet at work now; I finally came up with enough reasons to justify the cost. (Actually, it was me all along who said we didn't need it because of the cost.) I'm being trained next week on how to enter my quarterly wage reports on the interent rather than mailing them every 3 months. (I can't imagine how hard it could be; probably just need to be set up with an account...) Also, we have at least one employee interested in direct deposit, and I have the choice of using the internet for the transactions or purchasing a $250 program and paying a monthly service fee. Hmmmmm... no need to ponder that one! In addition to those conveniences, I also email my updated membership list to the company that mails out weekly donation envelopes to each family, I email the bulletin to the webmaster of the parish website and to any parishioners who may be out of town for extended periods of time, and there's been times where it would be much more convenient to order office supplies online from here, rather than try to remember it after I'm home. (Once I'm home, I try to put work out of my mind.)
So there you have it. I promise not to make this a habit, blogging from work... You won't tell on me, will you?? =)
I'm going back to work now; see you all later. Have a glorious Tuesday!! It still feels like winter here but tomorrow is a new day! (I hope it's warmer.)

Spring in MI!!
A week late and a few dollars short.......
The following is from LAST week's Monday Madness:
It's spring here in Michigan, but the weather today does not reflect that. My inspiration for this week's questions came from my mom suggesting the subject be SPRING! Thanks, Mom!! And thank you all for playing!! =)
1. What season are you in right now? Supposedly spring.
2. Do you celebrate anything special this time of year? Yes, lots of things: Easter, Mother's Day, Cinco de Mayo, My Birthday (May 22 in case you wanted to know; or not!), and Memorial Day.
3. Name 3 things that come to mind when you think of spring (or your current season). ~flowers ~green ~new life
4. In the current season, about how many hours of the day are daylight hours? I think one of the members of my family actually looked this up for our part of the world and I forgot what they wrote down so I'm guessing.... about 14.
5. Do you do any 'spring cleaning?' I clean whatever, whenever. It's a never-ending job, isn't it?? =)
6. Do you wash your own car or take it to the car wash? Neither; the husband does that, and usually it's washed here.
7. Do you hang your laundry out on a clothesline on nice days? I used to but for some reason there's no clothesline anymore so I guess if we get motivated and put one up, yes, I'll be hanging clothes. But usually the laundry is done by the time I get home from work...we'll see.
...and the following is optional; although I do encourage you to participate:
8. Post a picture that reflects the current season where you live. Coming right up.....
(The blurry white in the picture is snow; yes, it was snowing last Sunday!!)
