I trust you all had a safe Halloween if you were out there with the ghosts and goblins and witches and warlocks.......
You know the extra hour of sleep we get once a year is nice and all, but (and maybe this is all in my head) I feel as if my body KNOWS it's really 11:45 p.m. right now and not 10:45. What do you think? I don't even normally think about going to sleep until well after midnight, so why am I tired???
Please say a prayer for my mom; she's having knee surgery tomorrow. I know everything will go well, but some extra prayers can never hurt, right? So bring 'em on! =)
In other news, the NaNoWriMo project begins in just over one hour. The goal for those participating: to write a novel in one month. Go check out the link and see if it's something YOU'D be interested in joining in on! Here are just some of the people participating this year:
Anyone else?? I'll be moving this list over to one of my sidebars in a couple of days, and I'd be glad to include you if you want your name added!
Now it's time to post this week's Monday Madness questions, so I'll be going now. It's getting harder to come up with interesting questions; any ideas are welcome!! Goodnight and if you're living in the USA, don't forget to exercise your right to vote on Tuesday!! =)

It did stop raining about 15 minutes after I wrote my first post this morning; yay! The sun came out and it was quite warm. Around 11:00 or so the wind picked up and it's been windy ever since....if your house is facing the right direction, no raking needed!!
In case I don't get on this computer before it's officially Halloween, I just took a bunch of things I drew already and made one big Halloween image with them....
It's raining, it's pouring...
Yup, raining again! And I have to get out there soon; SO not looking forward to it! I just want to stay home and have fun.
Last night we took a little trip to K-Mart; since the new Wal-Mart opened, no one seems to shop at K-Mart anymore, which is precisely why I like going there for the little necessities we need... I found two pairs of shoes (that I needed so desperately!) and I bought some socks (fun, eh?). The shoes are actually leather and they were on sale for 'buy one, get one 1/2 off.' I love sales!
The big U of M vs. MSU game is this afternoon; some people have been 'preparing' for it since yesterday, partying like crazy! Guess they'll all be watching the game with a hang-over.....and possibly in the rain.
Well, I have to venture out in this nasty weather. When I get back this afternoon I plan to relax and enjoy! Anything exciting planned for your weekend?

With Halloween less than a week away, I thought I'd try my hand at a little ghostly fun.....
At the tone the time will be...
I don't know what happened to our 'time lady' but Monday morning I called the number to get the accurate time, because sometimes my co-workers like to mess with my clock, and I knew it was slow, and there was NO answer!! Turns out my clock's battery was dying so I just had to put another battery in it, but I was curious about why no one answered the line when I called, so all day (periodically of course) I tried calling our time lady........no answer. As of yesterday afternoon, still nobody on the other end of the line. Did they change the number? Did the time lady die??? =) I think that same voice has been giving us the accurate time for as long as I can remember, and I want to know what happened. Hmmmmmmmm. Do you have a number you call for the time? Is this same recorded voice used all over the world, I wonder?
You wanna hear something weird? A few years ago my daughter called the time lady and there was no answer so she hung up the phone. A few seconds later the phone rang and guess who it was??? The time lady........ do-do-do-doooo, do-do-do-doooo
Ok, I'm sure that thrilled you all to pieces; I'm outta here. Have yourself a wonderful Wednesday!! =)

The weekend in Grand Rapids was fun; not long enough, but fun! Since it rained on Saturday, our outdoor activities we'd considered doing were out of the question. BUT, did that stop us from having fun?? No. We had lunch out, came back to my sister's house and then my sister and I went shopping. 3 hours later we arrived back at her house and talked about what we'd do that evening. By the way, do you know where to find cheese cloth in your local grocery/department store??? We do!
We watched a couple of movies (well, one and a half), and had pizza for dinner. Sunday was supposed to be sunny so the plan was to go to the Ball Park Zoo (I think that's what it's called), so we got up, ate breakfast, attempted to blow up balloons for our craft project we were doing (ghosts), and got those started, and then headed out to the zoo. The girls didn't want to join us (go figure!) so they decided to take a trip to the mall and possibly see a movie. Once we arrived at the zoo, we almost immediately decided to turn right back around and head for Meijer Gardens. (Too many kidlets at the zoo!) It was a nice walk and we took lots of pictures of sculptures and other things. We left there, got back to my sister's house, ate some wonderful stew she'd prepared before we left, and it was time to head for home.
So now it's Tuesday already; where did Monday go?? I was tired yesterday for some reason so didn't spend any time online or even on my computer. This morning I woke up actually feeling rested though, so I'll be back to my old routine this afternoon. My daughter is enjoying her job (and enjoying teasing me about what a long day she has compared to mine) and she's looking forward to getting paid this week. Her last day will be next Monday but I know if the township office is ever looking for a good worker, they'll be calling her back. I think it's been a good experience for her and so far it doesn't look like her grades are suffering at all, so all is well.
It's now 8:00 and I must be on my way to work.....Since I never did get my memes posted from last week or put up the links I wanted to, I hope to do that later today. Now go have yourself a terrific Tuesday!! =)

Tonight's dinner menu:
~Tacos ~Tostadas ~Beans ~Rice
My stepson is coming over for dinner so I thought I'd try to impress him with my Mexican cooking skills! No really; I wanted to eat tacos tonight for dinner anyway, and he happens to be in town this weekend, and since we won't be here the rest of the weekend, I thought I'd invite him over to eat with us. And usually when he's in town we don't see him anyway, because he's always out and about.
Tomorrow morning we'll be leaving for Grand Rapids to visit one of my sisters and her family. I'm looking forward to it. She sent me a list of possible things to do and from the looks of it, we certainly will not be at a loss for things to do! I hope it doesn't rain!
Well, gotta go now; I don't want my dinner to overcook. I'll be back Sunday evening and hopefully post answers/photos to memes I participate in regularly (semi-regularly). On second thought, I might even do that tonight yet. Stay warm and stay comfy!! Enjoy your Friday evening!!! =)
Oh yeah, and I plan to post some links to a couple cool places I discovered on other bloggee's blogs....Until then, keep smiling!! =)

What a way to start a day; late! As you can see, it's already 8:00 and I should be on my way to work, but I wanted to tell you (if you don't know already) something my kid showed me last night. I received a comment on my homepage and it was in a different language, so I asked my daughter for help. She took me to Babel Fish Translation and what do you know??? All we did was copy the text and paste it into the little box and clicked on the language to translate from and to, and I could read my comment!! Wonder of wonders........
I've got so much catching up to do on my sites; where does the time go?? Well, it's off to work I go! Have a wonderful Wednesday!! =)

I could just slap myself....I cannot find where I saved all the picture tubes that I added to psp7 before I reformatted my hard drive!! I must have created somewhere around 200 tubes and added them to my 'tubes' folder; and I could have SWORN I saved them but I can't find 'em anywhere. If nothing else, this will give me something to ask questions about for Monday Madness this week. I can't believe I didn't save those things. I must have thought about it and never got around to actually doing it. Dumb, dumb, me!! Ah well; nothing I can do about it now so no sense in rambling on about it, eh? At least I was smart enough to save all my .psp images that I drew.
I barely installed any software at all yet on this thing; is there a way you can just install things on drive D, which happens to be the biggest drive?? (Well, aside from the one we added.) You get a computer with 80 GB of space, they partition it into 2 drives, and they leave you with a mere 12 GB on drive C and the rest on drive D.......Why??? I did manage to download and install Zone Alarm and AVG Anti-Virus; both free, by the way. I have lots to do yet before my little ol' computer is up to par; lots of software to install. I'll get it all back on, slowly but surely. Ok, I'm off to post this week's MM questions; Bryn, I'll be using yours next week! Thank you! Oh, and if anyone one of you fine people ever have suggestions for Monday Madness questions, give me a holler!
Off to see what else I can find that I forgot to save....... =)
Back To A Clean Slate...
I finally did it; I reformatted my hard drive. For the longest time, I've not been able to right-click and 'view source' and I have NO idea why. Several members of my family have tried to help me troubleshoot this problem and I thank them ever so much! BUT, after speaking with one of my sisters this afternoon and still coming up with no success, I decided the only thing left was to reformat my hard drive (which I've been thinking of doing for so long now anyway). I am now able to right-click and 'view source' so I'm a happy girl! I was sure to back up all my files and data from my hard drive before I began this looong process, but as soon as I was finished reformatting, I thought, 'Oh my! What about the hard drive my dad added to my computer a few weeks ago???' Worst case scenerio would have been he could just fix it for me if I screwed anything up, but I was REALLY hoping that it hadn't affected that hard drive at all, and guess what? It was showing up in 'my computer' and everything on that hard drive was still intact. Yay!! (Aren't you glad, dad???) =)
SO, now I have the 'joy' and 'fun' of installing all my software back on my computer. I don't even have PSP back on yet........you KNOW I will though, first chance I get tomorrow (or maybe even tonight yet).
We watched 'The Day After Tomorrow' tonight and I would recommend you see it if you haven't already. I thought it was an excellent movie, and guess what? I found out that they can still make a good movie and not put ANY s*x or p*rn in it at all! Isn't that amazing??? (I inserted asterisks there so no one will come to my site if they type those words in a search engine....)
Tomorrow is our 'Parish Progressive Dinner' or as I like to call it; Our Parish Pub Crawl. We will be visiting each parish in our cluster for dinner. Each parish will serve a part of the meal and provide some light 'entertainment.' We're supposed to begin at the church in Birch Run for appetizers, come to our church in Saginaw for salad, and then head to the two parishes in Bridgeport for the main course and dessert. Now if I were planning this thing, I'd have made the order a little more logical. Bridgeport is BETWEEN Saginaw and Birch Run! But such is life; I'll see if they plan to have a bus available for us or if we're all supposed to drive ourselves. I may opt out of some of it; it's supposed to go from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. That's my whole afternoon!! When will I ever get my programs installed??? I'll make my decision tomorrow after church.....
I'm off to see what kind of progress I can make tonight on my computer.
Have yourself a wonderful Sunday!! Stay warm!! =)

I'm so happy! I don't have to get up and go anywhere in the morning!! Yay! But I AM going to bed now; just wanted to share my latest Halloween graphic for you. I'll add it to my adoptables page if you're ever interested in grabbin' it. It's building some (my adoptables page); slowly, but surely. Goodnight!! =)

My daughter has a job. She just turned 15 nine days ago and she's got a job. She'll be working for the 'township' (only those that live in my area can appreciate the word 'township') until the presidential election; after that, I think she's done. She has a work permit for minors under the age of 16 and she is only allowed to work 10 hours a week, but I think that's plenty. So every day after school, she'll be going to her job, and her day will end at 5:00 p.m. She's growing up way too fast! On the other hand, I am all FOR her working. I really think it will help her to realize the value of money (or lack thereof) and if I know her like I think I do, she'll be very picky about what she does with it. She's been babysitting and mowing lawn for a couple of years already so she's had a taste of what it takes to earn a dollar, but this is the first job she's had that she's needed a work permit for. AND she'll be getting a paycheck at the end of the week. Welcome to the real world, my dear child!! She's doing fantastic in school this year. Her progress report that came in the mail last week shows she's got a 3.8 GPA. She's pushing for a 4.0 and I really think she's got what it takes to achieve this but I don't want her to think of herself as a failure if she doesn't. I told her how proud I was of her, even though I think she already knows. SO, we shall see what this school year holds for her and how she does. They'll be taking the pre-SAT test in the spring and next year the SAT. According to the letter I received, this is the test scores the colleges look at when deciding who to accept into their school. I know she'll do well if she puts her mind to it, and I will be here encouraging her all the way!
I am currently working (almost done) on a list of ABC's that describe who I am. I will post it when I think of something to put for 'Z' and 'Q.' You may want to take a gander at this yourself; it's really not that difficult!
Also, I want to support all those bloggers who are planning to participate in the NaNoWriMo challenge this year. Shirl is, I know. Anyone else in??? I believe the challenge is to write a novel, 50,000 words, in the month of November.
It's late and I'm tired; goodnight to all! Have a fantastic Thursday!! Next post I'll try to answer Monday Madness questions. Until then........take care of yourself and enjoy life!! =)

Do you ever feel NOT like blogging, but do anyway just because you feel obligated? And the next question is; obligated to whom?? Or have you felt like blogging, blogged, then deleted your post because you think it sounds too dumb or too boring? Have our blogs turned into something that we no longer write for our own peace of mind, but for our readers?? I was just thinking about these things tonight and thought maybe you'd want to offer your thoughts.......
Meanwhile, I am going to do a jigsaw puzzle at jigzone.com, then go to bed. Maybe I'll play a game of Spider Solitaire as well.....Goodnight! =)

So our bazaar is over; what a relief! And according to OUR calculations, we made more money than we did last year....I'm not sure how really, since the traffic seemed to be down, we had more food left over, and I think we sold less raffle tickets. But I'm not complaining! I'm still not sure if we're going to do this next year; our crafters really need more traffic. We'll have an evaluation meeting in three weeks to talk about it.
My plan for today is to just relax and not do too much work around here, although my house sure could use a thorough cleaning...any volunteers??? =)
Well I'm on my way to church now; hope you all have a spectacular Sunday!! =)

You KNEW I wasn't going to stay away from here until Saturday evening, right? I have so much to do but I'd rather be playing on my computer, so that's where I'm at. Really, all I have to do is get the menu updated and make sure I have all the things that I need to bring to the church with me tomorrow, on the table so I don't forget anything. I've had to write myself a list, and the number 1 thing on it is beans! We forgot to buy the beans!! We usually buy 2 10-pound bags of pinto beans from the pumpkin farm down the street but I guess they don't have any big bags so we'll have to pick them up at the store tomorrow morning. If you're wondering what's on the menu for Saturday (at our bazaar), here 'tis: For just a mere $5.00 you get 1 beef burrito, 2 enchiladas, beans and rice. Enchiladas are not the easiest food to serve, since they're best right out of the oven. But last year we got smart and decided to use smaller pans so we don't have so many going in the oven at once. This way they stay hot longer and taste much better! Tomorrow will be a day of cooking, preparing and decorating, setting up tables, etc. and in the evening greeting the crafters. We hope to be out of there by 8:30 or 9:00 Friday evening and will return before 7:00 a.m. Saturday. I just hope we have enough help on Saturday.....I always wonder why, with a parish of 175 families, is it so difficult to get people to come out and help at a fundraising event. I'll probably never know the answer so I should stop trying to figure it out, eh? Anyhow, I hope all goes smoothly and everyone in the bazaar has a successful day, and that we make some money. =)
A thought for you..... "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."

As usual, a day (or two) (or three?) late.......BUT, I have a good excuse, really. You've all heard me talk about our church bazaar, and it's just been one 'helluva' busy week so far. So please excuse my absence at your blogs; I've been a bit negligent, I know. Oh, and I decided to play 'Spider Solitaire' earlier today (for the first time in AGES) just to relax and one game turned into four... Now I know why I haven't played that game in so long; it can be addicting.
Ok, on to the real reason I came here to blog tonight: Monday Madness...
Using the letters in the word 'AUTUMN' describe your favorite season. (And hey, if you have a minute or two, answer along with us, will you?)
Trees lose their leaves.
Ugh!! Another U???? Unusual weather.
Making piles of leaves to jump in!
(Ok, that was harder than I thought!!)
Now for a meme that has been brought back due to popular demand! Lulu's Lines...
My favourite season.......is autumn, as you may well have already guessed. I just love wearing sweaters and sweatshirts, the smell of the wet leaves on the ground, the cool temperatures, and the beautiful colors. I only wish it could last a bit longer. But I must enjoy while I can, because winter is not far behind.
That's all I have to say; now I must retire for the evening. I think I'll be back before Saturday, but if not, wish us luck on our fall bazaar this weekend! At this point, I am just looking forward to it being successful, and most of all, OVER! Have yourself a terrific Thursday! =)

My daughter thanks everyone for the birthday wishes! I think she had a good birthday. I got out of work a bit early, bought some helium balloons (the 'happy birthday' one is huge!), and put streamers hanging from the kitchen ceiling. I know it sounds corny but it was fun and she was happy. Her best friend came over with a cake she had baked for her, her sister and her 3 kids came over with an ice cream cake, then her father and I took her out to dinner to celebrate. Once again, thank you for all the kind wishes!
Oh oh; I'm going to be late if I don't get off this computer. It seems we've been leaving for school later and later and I barely have any time between dropping Alex off to school and getting to work. I usually don't show up until 8:10 though anyway, because I'd just be sitting in school traffic for 5 minutes. (There's a school right across the street from where I work.)
Not much else going on here, so I'll just be going now.......Have a wonderful Wednesday!!! =)
Tuesday, October 05, 2004
In just a few short hours (7:31 a.m.) my daughter will turn 15....how time flies. I'm very proud of her; she's becoming quite the young lady...smart, well-mannered, good values, can be a bit hard-headed at times but that's not always a bad thing.
My eye is healing; it's almost down to its original size. There had to have been something in (or under) my contact lense on Saturday night and it just irritated my left eye. Sunday morning when I woke up I could barely open it. There was no way I was leaving my house looking like I did. So that's when I decided the best place for me to be was in front of my computer! I was due for a change anyway, so I spent the whole morning working on my blog layout.
Maybe tomorrow I can think of something profound to say, but until then.....I bid you goodnight!
And to Alex, in case you happen to stop by here, Happy 15th Birthday!!! All my love, Mom. =)
Sunday, October 03, 2004
Since I didn't go to church today (due to a huge swollen eye) I thought I'd change my blog to reflect the current season....SO, here it is! Simple, I know....I've still got a few things to do here but for the most part, this is what you'll see for the next couple of months....at least until winter sets in.
Enjoy your Sunday!! =)

This week's Monday Madness.....
Name THREE of your........
1. Pet Peeves: stupid drivers, parents who don't keep an eye on their children in stores (or anywhere else for that matter), people who complain about their jobs in front of their clientele
2. Favorite Sounds: water splashing, uplifting music, the sound of my compuer starting up (??)
3. Desk Items: 'dazzle' card reader, tape dispenser, external hard drive
4. Biggest Fears: my daughter making wrong choices, me making wrong choices, and there are others, but those are the 2 that come to mind right away
5. Biggest Challenges: the ability to say what I need to say without offending anyone, keeping my patience intact (ok, HAVING patience!), learning how NOT to worry about everything and being able to identify those things which I cannot change
6. Newest 'Toys': dazzle card reader, digital camera (purchased in February), and believe it or not, that's about it
7. Most Used Words: oh my, actually, hi, I also say 'good morning' a lot because of my job
8. Most Mispelled Words: 'misspelled' ~ 'judgment' ~ and when I'm typing something, I misspell the word 'of' a lot! It comes out 'fo.' (Technically, this is not a misspelling though....) ~ 'weird' (What ever happend to 'i before e, except after c???')
9. Favorite Disney Characters: Eeyore, Whinnie the Pooh, Lady (from Lady & the Tramp)
10. Bookmarks on Your Homepage: dynamic drive, frame codes, flash pixel fonts
SO, how about last night's 'Survivor?' My daughter asked me Tuesday evening which of the women I thought should go and if there were any that I really couldn't stand. I told her that as of the second episode I really didn't think any of them were horribly irritating. Well 10 minutes into last nights show, I quickly changed my mind! Even though there are a couple still on there that I would love to see go, my number one choice was voted off and I was so glad to see her go! I half expected a different guy to be voted off, but I can understand why the one that got booted, did.
Well, I'm off to put our bazaar signs up; just a week away now and there's lots to do yet. Every year we worry about how many tables we'll rent and every year so far, we've had enough to fill our room.....I hope this year is no different. So you all have a fabulous Friday and I'll be back around here over the weekend!! =)
