I was supposed to be taking pictures today for a photo project I planned to participate in, but I didn't feel all that great this morning when I woke up so I wasn't real active today. I have no pictures. I did spend some time on the computer, but that was about it. I went outside just to enjoy the beautiful warm day we had today but didn't leave my house. Just a blah day for me, but I'm feeling much better now and I wanted to just share a few great blogs I visit on a regular basis, so here you go; go say hi while you're there! Have a great Sunday evening; until tomorrow...

It's Friday....yay! This 'no meat on Fridays' thing and the basic concept of sacrificing during Lent may just turn out to be good for me in more ways than one. I'm really sticking to the no snacks commitment (only on my 3rd day!) and this may be the reason I'm not as hungry throughout the day. Yeah, we'll just see how much weight I've lost at the end of this 40 days.....I'll let you know.

Thanks to all who left me comments regarding the movie. I do appreciate all your input. At one point I almost regretted blogging about it, but just for a fleeting moment. I will put that subject to rest for now....but if anyone has seen the movie, I sure would love to hear what you have to say about it.

My drains seem to be running better. I did the plunger thing, more drain opener, and it seems to be ok. I think we just have slow running drains here.

Anybody having a cook-out Sunday? We're supposed to get temps in the high 40's! I'll probably get motivated to start some 'spring cleaning' that day if it's as nice as they say it's going to be. My windows need washing and my blinds too. Do you do spring cleaning? Do you wait until spring is officially here?

Hope you all enjoy your weekend! And remember, spring IS on its way!!

Ash Wednesday; Lent has begun. When I was a kid, not eating meat on Fridays during Lent was actually a sacrifice. Today a lot of the churches have Friday Fish Fries so it's more like a treat than a sacrifice. Isn't that kind of defeating the purpose of the whole thing? Just a thought....

My drain is clogged up and I just poured a half a bottle of 'The Works Liquid Plumber' down it, followed by 8 ounces of cold water (as directed), let it sit for 30 minutes, ran cold water down the drain, and it's still clogged. Any suggestions?? My suggestion is to buy anything BUT 'The Works.' What an awful strong smell! It almost smells like gas.

Anyone seen 'The Passion of the Christ' yet? Or plan to? My daughter is going to see it with her class next week; not sure how comfortable I am with that, but she's mature and she's got a good sense of what to expect so I think I made the right decision in letting her go.

I finally got my printer hooked up to this computer. It only took me a half an hour to find the software but 3 days to finally get around to doing it. Now I can print out some more pictures for my bulletin board. One day I'll take a picture of it so you can see how cool it is. On that note, I bid you goodnight.

Yipeee! Not only am I looking forward to coming up with the perfect photo for Photo Time this week (theme being 'green'), but I am prepared to take pictures on February 29th for the new challenge at 'A Day In the Life; the Leap Day'. I have no special talent in taking digital photos but I enjoy it and every opportunity to challenge myself; I'm up for it!! Are you???? Go check out these two sites and submit a photo. Believe me, you'll be glad you did!! =)

I'm also very happy to report that I've got all three of my pages for my friendship wall updated and will be adding new patches this week. Would you like to join??? Just click here. We welcome new members!!!

I had a good weekend; spent some time watching movies, reading, cleaning, etc. No big news to share except I had no idea how much time it would take me to update my friendship wall site. It's not something I want to do too often but I really feel like it needed a complete makeover. You can see it here if you want. I'm not done yet but it's a good start. Probably the biggest news I have to share with you is that I got a BUNCH of hair cut off the other day. I get sick of my hair sometimes so I go with a completely different look. I figure it'll grow back in time; why not go for a new look every now and again? My hair is not something I've ever spent a lot of money on. I usually cut it myself, color it myself (only because I've been 'blessed' with the graying gene early on in life) but I must say, hair does have something to do with the way you feel about yourself.....well for me anyway. SO, let's try and make this blog worth your while to read today, eh?

Now I will post my answers to Monday Madness; I answered them before I went visiting others' answers because I didn't want to be influenced by them. I supplied a letter to begin each answer with this week and here are mine.........
1. If I could wish upon a star and have my wish come true, I'd be so happy!
2. Maybe one day I will try my hand at cooking. No, seriously, maybe creating and selling cards.
3. Before I started blogging, I used to sit here at the computer and wonder what people spent so much time doing on the internet.
4. Lots of stuff sure make me scared!
5. If I could fly, I would fly to Alaska.
6. If more people were not so selfish, the world would be a better place.
7. I thought this meme was interesting this week. (any letter will do for this one.) Of course I'm a bit biased since I'm the one who came up with the questions........hey, give it a try!! Now back to my friendship wall updating.....have a restful evening!!

Good Saturday Morning!! I am in the process of changing my Friendship Wall around and I'm struggling with something but I think I'll figure it out. Even though this past week wasn't that busy for me workwise, I didn't seem to spend that much time on the computer; don't know why really. But I'm motivated now! Oh, if you'd ever be interesting in joining our Puffin Friendship Wall, you can find out all the details here.

We had our 6th Annual Spaghetti Dinner at my church last night; we always have it on the Friday before Lent begins because it will be the last Friday for Catholics to eat meat until after Easter. We had a great turnout! I guess the rain didn't keep many people away.

Well, that's about it for now; I'm going to continue to work on my site and hopefully have it all redone by the end of the day. Have yourself a great weekend!!

Something Profound...

"You can conform to what other people expect of you, or you can be yourself."

It certainly may be much easier to conform, but I choose to be myself. I'm not always the most popular one for it, but popularity is rarely not my goal. Just some of the things I strive to be...
~honest
~trustworthy
~faithful
~considerate
~genuine

I've had the opportunity in my life to come in contact (and even befriend) people who possess none of these qualities, but are very good at pretending to. Believe me, great lessons were learned by these experiences and rather than carry a chip on my shoulder as a result, I choose to always be conscientious of how I treat others.

Oh, the quote is from a preview of a movie that Julia Roberts is in and when I heard it, I had to write it down. I watched 'Radio' tonight and I recommend it; a very good film based on a true story. This weekend I plan to watch 'Whale Rider.' I've heard a lot of good things about that movie as well. Oh, speaking of movies, how do YOU pronounce G-I-G-L-I ??? you don't even want to know how I pronounced it; my daughter just started 'giggling' at me when I prounounced it 'giggly.' Anybody know the correct way?

I have plans to spend a lot of time on my computer this weekend; hopefully you will see lots of changes and updates on some of my sites! Until tomorrow then........

If I didn't know better, I'd think spring was really on its way! Well, it's on its way; just not as soon as I'd like to think. Tonight and into tomorrow we're supposed to get some nasty freezing rain, snow and rain. Oh and the weather man said we can add to that list 'the kitchen sink.' For today, it's a beautiful morning. The sun is shining, birds are singing and it's fairly warm out; makes me want to open up my windows!! I must be going now; gotta be to work in one minute (ooops! make that now!) Have a great day and maybe I'll come up with something real profound to blog about later......... =)

So I'm a day late doing the Monday Madness........It's my meme and I can be late if I want to . . . (sung to the tune of 'It's My Party...') (I know; corny!!) Ok, here goes! Oh, first let me tell you that before I wrote the questions, the first letter that came to my mind was the letter 'J.' SO, I guess that's what letter I must use.
1. Name two types of food that you could care less if you ever ate again.
Jam and Jelly (That's all I can think of!)

2. Name one animal.
Jaguar

3. List three words to describe yourself.
Jovial, Jumpy, and Just plain Jolly!!

4. Name two things you might find at a zoo.
Jackass, Junk food

5. Name three things you might find living in the water.
Jellyfish, HELP!!! Anybody have suggestions???

I may do that kind of questions again one day but now people will be careful as to what letter they pick. Oh but you have no IDEA of the questions I may ask! Have a great week!! =)

Now that Valentine's Day is over, I'm concentrating on the coming of spring!! So this is what you'll see for a while........little white flowers. I didn't have the energy or the desire to change the whole look yet; too much work! Last week had to be one of the busiest weeks I've had in a long time; glad it's a new week. I was actually going to take today off from work just to rest from the past week, but once I found out my kid has March 1st off for part of her mid-winter break, I decided to wait until then. Besides, this week will be a breeze compared to last week.

My mind has been drawing a blank when it comes to blogging lately, which is kind of surprising considering all that's going on in the world. SO, I will leave you with a quote for all you bloggers....
"There's no right way of writing. There's only your way."

Have a great week and I just may come back here tonight to comment on my quote. Until then.......

Well, I was on my way to Bay City to clean a house and I got almost half-way there when I decided to turn around and come back home (wimp! wimp!) The wind is blowing at around 30 mph and because of all the snow 'hills' to the sides of the road, the blowing is causing the visibility to be almost zero in a lot of places, there's snow covering most of the road, drifts everywhere, and I was very uncomfortable driving in it. MAYBE, just maybe, if I drove a 4-wheel drive vehicle, I would have kept on going, but no, I drive a little 4-cylindar thing that weighs nothing, and slides around in anything but dry roads.........so there you have it. Here I am. When is winter going to end??? I think this is one of the worst winters we've had in a long time; lots of snow and lots of wind. I'm ready for spring!!!

I think the next question I'm going to ask on MM is 'What is the worst sound an animal can make?' My cat is in heat.....ugly, ugly noise! Can you beat that????

Now for some of my favorite memes..........
Random Questions...
Tuesday, February 10: What makes a good photograph? Are you much of a picture buff?
First of all, what makes a good photograph in my opinion is 'capturing the moment.' BUT there's the still shots we all love to take and in that case, probably the right lighting, and maybe the background; you want the subject to stand out. Who knows? There's a lot of talent out there and I think everyone has an eye for photography if they love taking pictures.

Wednesday, February 11: What would you do first if you found yourself stranded on a deserted island?
First? Panic. But even that would depend on how many people were deserted with me. If I was alone I would probably be scared at first, but hopefully my 'senses' would soon kick in and I'd think of ways to draw attention to myself so maybe I could be rescued.

Tuesday Iffers...
If you could commit any crime and get away with it, what would you do and why?
Gosh, I never thought about it. I guess the biggest crime I would ever want to commit is speeding. Is that a crime? No, not really.........hmmmmm. Ok, I would want to sneak into a place where there's lots of celebrities and take some good pictures; and I guess if I could, I'd try to make some money with the pictures I took. (BUT, I don't plan to commit ANY crimes, so this is strictly fictional!)

Lulu's Lines...
If my memory.......serves me correctly, I have been blogging for almost 2 years. My Mom was the first one in our family to discover the blogs. She started one and now we have 5 people in our family blogging. Cool, eh? First I had a blog here at blogspot called 'Otto's Bloggos' and when I started having problems with it, I searched and searched for another place to host my blog. I had one at pitas for a little while, one at enjoydiary for a very short time too, but they weren't as versatile as blogspot so I bit the bullet and came back. And here I still am!

Another busy day tomorrow, so I best get myself some sleep! G'night!!!

And now for a little Monday Madness.....on Tuesday;

1. On Sunday afternoon, I like to just... relax; maybe spend a few hours on the computer, watch a good movie, if the weather is nice, go out for a walk.....do whatever I want to do!

2. I'm behind someone at a traffic light, the light turns green and they just sit there, I...usually get frustrated and start talking to them (as if they can hear me) and if a couple of seconds go by I honk my horn. Lights don't stay green long, especially those left-turn arrows!

3. My immediate reaction to someone making a nasty remark to me is... to become silent. After that, I guess I sit there and ponder what they've just had the nerve to say and depending on who it is, try to let it roll right off my back.

4. If I had to live in a state/country where it was cold most of the year, I would...just live there! This state seems to have cold weather more than warm and here I am!

5. When the weather outside is hot and humid, I prefer to...be somewhere that's air conditioned.

6. My favorite 'comfy' clothes to wear around the house is...sweats and a sweatshirt! And of course slippers!

7. If given a deadline at work/school to finish a project, I usually...finish it very close to the deadline.

8. If someone gave me a pet for my birthday, I would...fake smile and then say something like, "I don't know what to say, but I really can't accept it. 2 cats are really more than enough." I should think they'd ask my feelings about owning another pet before just handing one over.......

9. As far as watching the clock on weekends, I...TRY not to, but it's such an awful habit that I tend to look at it as much as I do during the week. (Something to work on, eh?)

10. I usually wash my car about every...other week in the summer and once or twice in the winter. Not often enough!! And I LIKE a clean car!

That's it for now.........maybe more memes later.

11:29 p.m......Don't panic now, but Otto's turnin' in early tonight!! (Tomorrow's featured memes: Tuesday Iffers, Random Questions, and Lulu's Lines) G'night all!!

(I will just have to get to my Monday Madness tomorrow; as well as update and do some serious visiting!!)

Once again, thank you all for helping me out. Maybe this problem has resolved itself.......we shall see.

I'm a little worried about our Spring Bazaar coming up in March. It was originally scheduled for March 27, the last Saturday of the month (like always), but because of a huge basketball tournament going on across the street on March 20, the bazaar committee decided it would be good for business to have our bazaar on the same day. So after handing out applications to all the crafters on the day of the Fall Bazaar, which was October 2003, and the date on the app being March 27, I took care of all the necessary details to change the date for a week earlier. I've sent in the application for a raffle license already (date on it being March 20), every person who has called asking about the date has gotten the same answer, March 20........and Thursday evening I receive a phone call from my boss asking me when the Spring Bazaar is; of course I told her March 20. She calls me back a couple hours later and says that half the bazaar committee say it's the 20th and the other half say it's the 27th. The chairperson of the committee leaves a message on her answering machine saying the date is the 27th. So I start refreshing her memory as to when and why the committee decided to change the date (against MY better judgement I may add). She starts to realize that I am probably right and the confusion comes in because the date on the applications has never been changed. SO, now we have about 35 people (crafters) who think the bazaar is on the 27th (because that's what the app says) and they're planning for that date and some of them have been planning for that date for over six months, we have an application for our raffle license sent to the state of Michigan with the date on it being the 20th.... Now tell me, WHY do I feel like I need to resolve this messed up situation?????? (Ummm, cuz I'm messed up???) Well, I can't fret about it anymore.....nothing I can do about it right now. Such is life; woe is me! (Heh!!)

I'm really confused! Can anyone tell me WHY my homepage is loading correctly if I click on the link at the right, here on my blog, but when I type in 'oserrato.com' all I get is a bunch of red x's??? I've checked my code, ftp'd it up yet again, and everything looks alright. Yes, I'm in the process of moving all my images over to another subdirectory, but I haven't moved those images yet, so the img src has not changed! This is very confusing to me. Let's see what we get if I leave my link here. For me, this link works. But still if I type my url in the address bar, I get nothing. Would you all do me a favor and first click on my link and see what you get, then go and type in the url in your address bar and see what you get. Let me know!........any suggestions would be very much appreciated!!!

I know Valentine's Day is coming up....in exactly one week, but Easter is not far behind. (No, I'm not rushing things; I'm just trying to think ahead graphic-wise.) SO, here's my first bunny; I'll be making more bunnies in the near future. I plan on enjoying my weekend! No snow predicted; JUST the way I like it!!!

If you own Paint Shop Pro, and if you're like me, you're always on the lookout for good tutorials. Well, the following are just a few that I've come across and I wanted to share them with you. Hey, if you can't get to them right away, bookmark them!

the creative mom
harold's psp tuts
graphic buds
deb's psp tuts
onstage graphics

I'm in the process of 'rearranging' my images on my domain so I don't have to rely on PBase for my blog but at the same time, be sure that no one will be direct linking to my blinkies, calendars, etc. What a job (and a HALF!!!) Slowly I am getting there and it will all be worth it in the long run!

SO, how about tonight's episode of 'Survivor?' Anybody watch it? I'm rootin' for Rupert all the way!!!! Go, Rupert!!! What's YOUR thoughts on getting rid of all the previous winners first? Do you think they shouldn't have been chosen in the first place? Feel free to share! On that note, I bid you goodnight!

Just one more thing I have to share.........last night as I was trying to figure out why one of my javascript calendars wouldn't work on someone's site, I realized there was (for some strange reason) an end font tag inserted in the img src= tag in my 'copy & paste' code. I have since removed them and I added one to my homepage just to be sure that was the problem.........so if you've tried to use one by copying and pasting the code I offered you, please try again. Ok, goodnight! =)

Well you learn something new every day.......at least that's what 'they' say! If it wasn't so late, I'd tell you exactly what I learned tonight. I'll just give you a brief 'rundown' of what I spent at least two hours doing this evening..... searching for '.htaccess' in google. Brief enough? There is SO much information and of course we all know you have to 'weed out' the (I hate to call it this, but for lack of a better term) 'useless' stuff to get to the real 'dirt!' Oh, I just so happened to have saved a couple of the links to places I've been to tonight. If interested, here they are;
htmlbasix and
javascriptkit

Update on my 'resolutions' this year...I HAVE managed to make time to read more, I haven't touched a 'stitch' of cross stitch yet (but plan too!), I haven't committed to one day of scrapbooking, I HAVE watched at least one movie a week with my daughter, I HAVE taken one evening a week to play games, I still need to work on keeping in better touch with all of my family, and I HAVE tried to challenge myself with digital photography; although being a new owner of the Sony F828, it isn't difficult. That camera is amazing! There's so many features on it and I want to learn how to use them all! So there you have it......looks like I've got some room for improvement.

Tomorrow's post will be about my job and a bit about one of my 'co-workers' who happens to be a full-time volunteer (her choice!) Stay tuned . . . until then......... yet another of my favorite quotes;

First of all, thank you to everyone who offered suggestions for my request.......I just didn't have the energy or the TIME to sit here for hours searching for the answer. SO, you know what I did? I went to Mandarin Design Daily and I asked Meg; here's what she said to do.......
FORM
TEXTAREA
code here
END TEXTAREA
END FORM
It worked!.........and of course you have to use the little < things to begin and end the tags.

Ok, even though I should be asleep right now, I'm answering Monday Madness first........

1. I probably spend about 2 to 8 hours on the computer every day. It's not 8 hours most days; I mean I do work and have a kid, but on the weekends, yeah, that's probably real accurate.

2. It always takes me 30 minutes to get ready in the morning. But somehow with my daughter and me (or I) both getting ready, it takes twice as long.......

3. I would rather go to the dentist than go to take my kid to school in the morning in horrible weather and bad roads.

4. My favorite dessert is praline pecan ice cream.

5. When I go to the store for one item, I always walk out with about 20. Yesterday I went to the store to get toilet paper; my first mistake was that I grabbed a cart. I ended up doing my grocery shopping for a week!

6. If the statement, 'You are what you eat' was true, I would be a pizza. I don't eat pizza THAT often, but I do love it!

7. I set my thermostat to as low as it goes and put the air conditioner on in the summer and 68 in the winter. But before I go to bed, I turn it even lower. I cannot stand being hot at night.

8. My favorite outdoor activity is going to places that have lots of 'photo opps!'.

9. My favorite indoor activity is what I'm doing right now; sitting at the computer and creating, writing, visiting, etc..

10. When I'm feeling down, I usually feel like cleaning something. The other day I cleaned my whole kitchen and bathroom, ironed most of the clothes that needed it, got my 'Swiffer' out and did the cobweb thing, cleaned the ceiling fans........yeah, weird, huh?

Goodnight!! Sleep tight! Don't let the bedbugs bite! (Whoever came up with THAT saying???)
